Claudio Mella Castel

The adjective that I like the most about my work is Euphemism or in the language of the XXI century "Analog painting" ... I think it is slothful to categorize myself. My work is simply an honest extension of who I am.

The adjective that I like most about my work is "euphemism" or, with the current language "similar painting, I think it's lazy to want to categorize me, my work is just an honest extension of who I am.

Claudio Mellacastel, a color-blind painter, born in 1971 in Santiago, Chile, began painting at the age of 15 under the tutelage of his father, a neo-impressionist artist. He studied Pedagogy and Bachelor of Arts at the Metropolitan University of Education and completed his postgraduate training in Interactive Multimedia at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He participates in multiple group and individual exhibitions in Chile, Peru, Argentina and Spain. He has received important awards, recognitions and has been part of important selections in national competitions. His work is currently in collections in South America, the United States and Europe. Currently lives in Barcelona.

In his artistic work, the artist, based on an internal research, recodes the color favoring the composition as if it were a piece of music; harmonies of blues, fugue of red or symphony in bright colors. The use of color as a plastic element is not fanciful. Power chromatic vibration, holding color planes by neutral structures and black graphics in the foreground. He dissociates the form from its original meaning, reinventing it according to its perception.
