Who is Patrice Acunzo?
Patrice Acunzo was born at Tarascon, in Provence, in 1973. He studied painting with Martine Vazakas before embarking on literary and artistic studies. At the same time a passion for dance drove him to train to the point where he became a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher of contemporary dance.
This twin track career has seen him giving dance performances - leading in a show by Sylvie Joly in 2000, touring abroad with the “Emma Shaplin” show in 2003, before dancing Carmen at the Stade de France in Paris; and holding exhibitions of his artworks - 4th prize at the 30th Salon de Beaucaire in 1991, winner of the poster competition at the Estivales de Beaucaire in 2003, exhibiting at the Biennale Internationale du Tricastin in 2005, as well as at Nîmes, Montpellier, Montélimar etc.
Patrice Acunzo is also a choreographer and in 2000 won first prize for choreography at Montreux for the creation of a duo “La trace”, as well as first prize at Thionville for “A demi-endormi (half asleep)”.
He lectures at several schools on art or choreography, notably at Montpellier (Espedanse and Lunaret), Paris (Kim-Kan), and Arles (Arabesque).
