Who is Lequesne ?
Born in 1942, Lequesne is a self-taught painter who one day visited the Renée Seilhan studio in Bordeaux. Fascinated by what he saw, he discovered the work of Buffet, Soulages, de Staël and Soutine.
After a long time in Africa (he lived in Tunisia than in Algeria from 1967 to 1982), Lequesne set up home in an old farmhouse in the Landes in south-west France. He now works there, in his studio.
His paintings are influenced by lyrical abstraction, and are exhibited not only across France but in many published works.
